Scentoire Privacy Policy
Scentoire (“Scentoire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered reflective journaling application designed to support personal reflection and emotional awareness. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, protect, and process information when you use the Scentoire mobile application (“Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
A. User Content
We collect content you voluntarily provide, including:
- Journal entries
- Chat messages
- AI-generated responses shown to you
- Session timestamps and ordering metadata
This content is stored securely in AWS DynamoDB and logically isolated using your unique authenticated user identifier. User content is collected solely to provide journaling functionality, conversation continuity, and personalization. We do not sell, rent, or share your content for advertising purposes.
B. Account Information
To create and access an account, we collect:
- Email address (if using email-based authentication)
- Unique authentication identifier issued by AWS Cognito
Your email address is used only for account authentication, verification, and support communications.
C. Operational Usage Data
We may collect limited technical information, including:
- Message counts
- Session creation timestamps
- App version
- Device operating system version
This data is used solely for enforcing free usage limits, managing subscription entitlements, maintaining system performance and reliability, and operational cost management. Analytics systems are not active in this MVP release for behavioral profiling.
D. Subscription Information
All subscription payments are processed exclusively through Apple’s App Store. Scentoire receives only subscription entitlement status (active/inactive). We do not collect credit card information, billing addresses, Apple ID credentials, or transaction payment details.
2. Safety and Crisis Support
Text submitted to Scentoire may be automatically analyzed for signals of severe emotional distress or self-harm. This analysis is automated and may not always be accurate. It exists solely to provide grounding responses and encourage professional support. Safety features are never gated behind a subscription.
Not medical advice: Scentoire is not a medical device and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic services. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
Scentoire does not collect:
- Contacts
- Photos or videos
- Microphone input
- Background audio
- GPS location
- Advertising identifiers
- Cross-app tracking identifiers
- Biometric data
- Device camera image analysis
The AR background used in the app is purely visual and does not perform image detection or environmental analysis.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information solely to:
- Provide AI-generated responses
- Maintain conversation history
- Authenticate accounts
- Enforce subscription access
- Provide safety guidance
- Respond to support and deletion requests
We do not use personal information for advertising, data brokerage, or tracking.
5. AI Processing
Relevant portions of user content may be transmitted securely to AI inference services solely to generate responses. User content is not used to train public or shared AI models. AI responses are automated and may be inaccurate.
6. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored using AWS cloud infrastructure, including DynamoDB.
We apply industry-standard safeguards including:
- Encryption in transit
- Identity-based access controls
- Logical user partition isolation
- Least-privilege backend permissions
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we actively work to protect your data.
7. Data Sharing
We share data only with:
- Cloud service providers necessary to operate the Service
- AI inference providers solely to generate responses
- Legal authorities if required by law
We do not sell personal data.
8. Data Retention
User data is retained while your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@scentoire.app.
Upon verified deletion request, DynamoDB records are permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymized. Minimal records may be retained if legally required.
